Parker’s House will be the only one of its kind along the I-95 corridor from Florida to South Carolina and will serve more than 100 unaccompanied, homeless women annually. (COASTAL PET RESCUE) It’s very possible that CC is an actual angel on earth. This sweet senior girl is more of a medium size – probably between 20 and 30 lbs – and has so much love to give to the right person. Likes: Belly rubs, brushing, slow walks around the block, other small female dogs, giving kisses, car rides with the windows cracked, long naps, and light, adorable snoring. Dislikes: Being left alone and high-energy children or dogs. We recommend crating her – at least while she settles into her new home and your schedule – to help her adjust and give her a place where she feels safe and comfortable when you’re not around. CC would do very well in a quiet home with one or two calm adults, and perhaps the right small dog (though probably not a puppy).

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Enmarket Arena is working hard to ensure the health and safety of guests and staff in accordance with local and national guidelines. There are a few key changes being implemented for a safer and healthier venue. Per the City of Savannah’s COVID-19 mandate, Enmarket Arena will require that all guests attending gatherings or events must show either a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or Rapid) taken within 72 hours of the event date OR proof of full vaccination. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and PREP services will still be offered at the Midtown clinic by appointment only. The main clinic at 1395 Eisenhower Drive will offer essential services only. This change does not affect Environmental Health services or Vital Records, nor does it impact operations at the Chatham County Health Department’s COVID testing sites or COVID-19 vaccination sites. (CHATHAM COUNTY, GA) The Chatham County Health Department was awarded the 2022 Car Seat Mini-Grant by the Georgia Department of Public Health Injury Prevention Program. The health department will use funding from the Mini Grant to educate parents and caregivers on how to properly install and use car seats, offer car seat inspections, and provide car seats and booster seats to financially eligible families. This program is funded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to help ensure Georgia’s children are safe while riding in motor vehicles. ENMARKET ARENA UPDATES COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Enmarket Arena is working hard to ensure the health and safety of guests and staff in accordance with local and national guidelines. There are a few key changes being implemented for a safer and healthier venue. Per the City of Savannah’s COVID-19 mandate, Enmarket Arena will require that all guests attending gatherings or events must show either a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or Rapid) taken within 72 hours of the event date OR proof of full vaccination. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and PREP services will still be offered at the Midtown clinic by appointment only. The main clinic at 1395 Eisenhower Drive will offer essential services only. This change does not affect Environmental Health services or Vital Records, nor does it impact operations at the Chatham County Health Department’s COVID testing sites or COVID-19 vaccination sites. According to the city, the decision was made as a result of supply-chain disruptions which have impacted the completion of the facility. A MILESTONE IN GEORGIA’S FIGHT AGAINST THE PANDEMIC

(SAVANNAH, GA) It was a milestone moment in Georgia’s fight against the pandemic when – on December 14, 2020 – the Coastal Health District was the first site in the state to receive shipments of COVID-19 vaccine. To date, more than 178,000 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered through public health in the eight-county Coastal Health District. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone ages five and older get vaccinated against COVID-19. HEALTHY CHECKOUT INITIATIVE LAUNCHES IN SAVANNAH

(SAVANNAH, GA) Savannahians who live in low-income neighborhoods often have a poor quality diet and the health problems associated with it. Now, Healthy Savannah, the City of Savannah and local grocery stores are using grant funds to tackle that problem where it starts for many families – at the grocery store checkout aisle. Participating stores are ensuring fresh produce and other healthy choices are attractively displayed near the checkout lines. The first grocers to join the effort are the Savannah area Red and White stores.

Healthy Savannah aims to make the healthy choice the easy choice. The organization seeks to improve lives through policy, systems, and environmental change. We are in the midst of a national awakening to the need for and lack of health and racial equity. Yet Healthy Savannah, through its community outreach, partnerships, and collaborations has been uniting our disparate and/or low-wealth neighborhoods and citizens to effect meaningful, sustainable change. Through a collaborative coalition of 200 organizations, Healthy Savannah has been the leading convener on big picture issues and policy change – like the Smoke-free Air Ordinance & the Tide to Town urban trail system. (SAVANNAH, GA) Healthy Savannah, in collaboration with St. Joseph’s/Candler’s African American Health Information and Resource Center, proudly presents the HERO Help Me Database. The Health Effective Resource Organizations, or HERO Help Me, is a database that refers its users to over 1,000 critical resources in Chatham County. The database is a one-stop shop for a variety of resources and services, such as healthcare providers, food assistance and nutrition, childcare, housing, physical activity, education, COVID-19 and flu information, and many more.
