FRONT DOOR PRODUCE FOR THOSE IN NEED

(HEALTHY SAVANNAH) Healthy Savannah is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live their best, healthiest life. Many people in our community struggle with food and nutrition insecurity, the inability to easily access fresh fruits and vegetables. Healthy Savannah aims to challenge this issue through our partnership with Front Door Produce. This delivery service offers locally grown, seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables from South Georgia in eco-friendly packaging right to your doorstep. Healthy Savannah and Front Door Produce are teaming up to provide fresh produce boxes to those in need. From now until June 6, your purchase of a $30 box from Front Door Produce will go to a resident of Live Oak Landing, a retirement community on Savannah’s Eastside. A portion of the proceeds will support Healthy Savannah’s work in eliminating the health disparities that impact our most vulnerable populations. To purchase a produce box on behalf of Healthy Savannah, visit www.frontdoorproduce.com.

CHARLIE NEEDS A HOME

(COASTAL PET RESCUE) Charlie is completely lovable and a bit of an acrobat who is surprisingly agile for her size! She loves to run and chase the ball, but then she likes for you to chase her with the ball. She is learning to bring it back though, and she does respond if you tell her to “drop it”. Her main goals in life are to love you and sit on your lap. Charlie’s incredibly intelligent and needs daily mental stimulation as well as room to run and play. She has successfully been introduced to cats, chickens, and even ferrets, and although very exuberant, she’s super gentle. Charlie loves everyone – adults and children alike – and just wants to be loved and please you, and is an exceptional dog who deserves the very best home that anyone can give her.

Tybee is the first beach in Georgia to stub out smoking. Beach patrollers will issue warnings to smokers for the first three weeks of June, then a $300 fine goes into effect. COASTAL HEALTH DISTRICT REMINDS RETAILERS OF TOBACCO 21 LAW

(WTGS) Georgia Dept. of Health, Coastal Health District and Healthy Savannah have launched a new campaign with Savannah area retailers on Georgia’s Tobacco 21 Law. Coastal Health District officials said they want the community to be aware of the law since it was passed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Georgia’s Tobacco 21 Law was passed in July 2020, making it unlawful for any person to sell or barter, directly or indirectly any cigarettes, tobacco products, tobacco-related objects, alternative nicotine products, or vapor products to any individual under the age of 21. The law also makes it unlawful for anyone under 21 to purchase such products or for anyone to purchase such products for those under 21. It also prohibits vaping within a school safety zone.
