Major Renovation Unveiled by The Bowen Law Group

The Bowen Law Group Renovates the Top Floor of the Manger Building

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Bowen Law Group unveils their renovated office space, located on the top floor of the Manger Building at 7 East Congress Street in historic Johnson Square. Originally built in 1912, the office overlooks downtown Savannah with panoramic views of the Savannah River, City Hall and the Talmadge Bridge.

Before the renovation, the 4,000 square foot office had previously been converted into a nondescript office space with drop ceilings, industrial carpet and walls blocking all of the views. Despite its premium location, it was virtually indistinguishable from any other office in town.

Bowen had been in the space for seven years, running the Savannah branch of two Atlanta law firms. Bowen said, “I have always been fascinated by the tremendous possibilities the space offered and regretted that such potential was being wasted. The moment I was able to procure the space on my own, renovating it became my first priority.”

The integrity of the building’s original design was reestablished by uncovering the dramatic architecture that had been lost over time. The renovation highlights the historic accents that were part of the original construction, such as vaulted ceilings, detailed iron work and arched windows. Bowen utilized the services of J.W. Buckley and Associates as the architects for the project, a firm that is located on the eighth floor of the same building.

Beginning around April 2013, the project took a little over a year. The new space combines the Bowen family’s history and the history of Savannah with modern, state-of-the-art technology.

“My vision for the office was to reflect the success and serious nature of our practice while still remaining warm and inviting. My goal is for the CEO of a Fortune 500 company to feel immediately confident upon entry that they are going to receive quality representation while also striving to make certain that every other client feels just as comfortable and welcome,” said Bowen.

Work from local artists is displayed extensively throughout the renovated office. Anne Argo created the large original paintings featured in the reception area and conference room. Marisa Alvarez created the original metal wall installation and the combination organic/metal accent pieces. Bowen also purchased an “incendiary art” piece from Kipling Collins. The framing of historic photographs and documents was primarily handled by Julian Weitz from Friedman’s Fine Art.

“It’s important for me to support Savannah’s economy by displaying pieces from local artists. It gives me the opportunity to give back to the community by highlighting our local talent,” said Bowen.
