Park Place Outreach – Youth Emergency Shelter Announces New Board Members

(SAVANNAH, GA) Park Place Outreach – Youth Emergency Shelter announces that Major Kim Middleton and Salita Hill have joined the organization’s Board of Directors.
 
Middleton has been employed with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department since 1987. She began her career as a corrections officer in the jail and currently holds the rank of major. She is the commander of security and a member of the Sheriff’s Command Staff. Middleton has been a POST Certified Instructor since 1991 and received her managerial certification in 1999.

Middleton has an associate of science degree in business administration from South University and a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Columbus State University.

Middleton is a 2000 graduate of Leadership Savannah, a 2006 graduate of the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government and a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. She served as president of the Georgia Internal Affairs Investigators Association in 2003-2004 and as chairperson of the Chatham County Employees Pension Board for over eight years. She also participates and has membership in several professional organizations, including the Georgia Jail Association, National Internal Affairs Association, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, American Correctional Association and American Jail Association.

Hill serves as vice president of community banking at Wells Fargo. She has worked in the banking industry in Savannah for more than 29 years and has been with Wells Fargo since 2006.

Hill has a bachelor of science degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Georgia Southern University. She attended the University of Georgia Terry College of Business Georgia Banking School, where she was a Top Graduate of Distinction, and the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking, where she was a scholarship recipient.

Hill received the Community Housing Services Agency-Leadership Award and is a graduate of Leadership Savannah. She is past chairman and past secretary of the Community Housing Services Agency, past chairman of the Community Housing Development Corporation, past vice chairman of the AshTree Organization, a past member of the Rotary Club of Savannah East, a past board member of the Savannah Community Development Corporation and a member of the Chatham Club. In addition, she volunteered for the Girl Scouts of the USA during the organization’s capital campaign for the Juliette Gordon Low House.

Park Place Outreach – Youth Emergency Shelter, located at 514 E. Henry St., provides support for troubled children and teens in Savannah and the surrounding area. The shelter is open 24 hours a day to youth in crisis, adolescents who are homeless, young people who have been abused and runaway youth. The shelter is also a valuable resource for youth who may be contemplating ways to run away. Opened in 1984 as Marshlands Foundation, Inc. (dba the Savannah Runaway Home), Park Place Outreach – Youth Emergency Shelter provides counseling and other services to boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 17. The organization’s goal is to keep kids off the street and reunify families whenever possible.
