(TYBEE ISLAND, GA) Effective immediately, the Chatham County Parks & Recreation Department has closed the historic McQueen’s Island Rails to Trails due to concerns for public safety. Currently, Chatham County is developing a plan to restore the trail. Due to the trail’s salt marsh location, the plan must be approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Until a plan has been finalized and approved, the western portion of the trail has been closed. The stabilization work is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2014.

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Enmark Savannah Bridge Run will take place Saturday, December 7, 2013. Participants can pick up their packets and other information at the Expo & Packet Pick-up at the Savannah Civic Center on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 9 am – 7 pm. The Saturday race schedule includes the 5k, 10k, Double Pump and Kid 1/4 mile. Awards will be given to top runners. Free transportation will be offered from 6 am to noon from the Savannah Civic Center to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.
