(SAVANNAH, GA) The 7th Annual State of Small Business in Chatham County, presented by Best Business Brokers and Wells Fargo & Company, will be held Wednesday, May 8, at the Eckburg Auditorium at Savannah Technical College. Five area experts will present reports on measurable benchmarks relating to the health of Savannah’s small business community. The speakers will then hold a roundtable review to discuss the implications of the data and how it relates to small business owners. Doors open at 8 a.m. with refreshments available. PEACOCK SUBARU DONTES $4,875 TO GREATER BLUFFTON JASPER COUNTY VOLUNTEERS IN MEDICINE

SHIPS OF THE SEA MARITIME MUSEUM

(SAVANNAH, GA) Join Ships of the Sea for the 200th anniversary of the SS SAVANNAH’S historic trans-Atlantic crossing-the world’s first oceanic voyage under steam! In recognition of this achievement, National Maritime Day (May 22) was established in 1933.  On this Maritime Day, Ships of the Sea will celebrate SAVANNAH’S 200th anniversary with a commemorative ceremony provided by the Propeller Club.  The evening will also include a performance by the Parris Island Marine Corps Band, and a special exhibit by artist Robert Morris.  This singular event will be located in the North Garden Assembly Room decorated in the fashion of the 1819 William Jay pavilion built in Johnson Square for President Monroe’s visit to survey the steamship. For more information please visit: www.shipsofthesea.org 

PARK PLACE OUTREACH TO RECEIVE $1,000 GRANT AT ENMARKET ENCOURAGE HEALTH SERVICE DAY 

(SAVANNAH, GA) On Tuesday, May 7, the Enmarket Encourage Health Series will recognize the nonprofit Park Place Outreach- Youth Emergency Services that supports runaway, homeless, and at-risk young people, ages 11-21, through residential and after-school programs. Representatives of Enmarket be will volunteering at the House in the sun garden by planting fresh herbs and vegetables and painting interior walls. BETHESDA ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP GALA TO SET STAGE FOR GRADUATION

DIABETES CULINARY PROGRAM

(SAVANNAH, GA) A brand new culinary program designed for children and teens with Type 1 diabetes was recently announced. The program is for 6-12th graders and will be held at the Savannah Children’s Museum on May 18 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The new program is hosted in partnership with the Dwaine & Cynthia Willett’s Children’s Hospital, Everyday Diabetes Center and the Forsyth Farmer’s Market.
