Goodwill CEO Resigns, Re-unites with his family in New York City

(SAVANNAH, GA) Mohsen Badran, President and CEO of Goodwill of the Coastal Empire, announced that he will be leaving the nonprofit organization effective Friday, September 26 after almost four years of service. Badran plans to return to New York City to be closer to his family who remained in NYC over the past four years.

Under Badran’s leadership, Goodwill of the Coastal Empire provided services to 19,518 people and placed 1,672 into employment in 2013. Year to date, Goodwill has placed 1,220 people in the Coastal Empire into gainful employment; 96 placements were US Veterans in the community.

Badran said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the full board of directors for allowing me the privilege to lead this great organization in such difficult economic times and implement an ambitious plan of growth and expansion to serve and assist thousands of people who needed help to move from dependency to independence.”

Badran joined Goodwill in NYC in 1989 as an assistant store manager in Harlem and was promoted to store manager, district manager, and marketing director then shifted to industrial contracts director, Vice President. Later, Badran was senior Vice President of New Jersey operations in addition to industrial contract services. In December 2010, he was appointed to lead Goodwill of The Coastal Empire and was recently elected to join the board of directors of Goodwill Industries International.

Explaining that he was very proud of the evolution of the organization over the past three and half years, Badran said, “The organization is strong and blessed with outstanding talent, poised for success and mission impact in the future. However, I will continue take a strong interest in the well-being of Goodwill and will always be available to ensure a smooth transition.”

Badran submitted his resignation to the board of directors on Monday, Aug. 4. Future plans may include opportunities to run a private sector company in the New York area. For now, Badran will be focusing on spending time with his wife and three children.

Goodwill of the Coastal Empire will bid farewell to Badran with a special thank-you celebration on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m.
