(SAVANNAH, RICHMOND HILL) Jan Bass has been named Director of Marketing for Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc. Bass comes to Goodwill from the City of Richmond Hill, where she served as the Community Developer/Economic Planner from 2003 to 2010.

  

In her new position, Bass is responsible for the overall marketing strategy for Goodwill Industries’ workforce development, business services and retail/donation division through the promotion of the organization’s mission. Additionally, Bass serves as the public relations arm to promote community awareness and coordinate partnerships within the 33 county region that Goodwill Industry services.

  

"I am extremely happy to join the Goodwill family," Bass says. "It feels great to wake up every morning and realize I am helping to spread the Goodwill mission side-by-side with some very talented individuals."

  

Prior to her position with the City of Richmond Hill, Bass was an Intelligence Analyst for the United States Army from 1996 to 2003. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Carolina University (North Carolina) and is currently completing a Master’s degree in education from Armstrong Atlantic State University.

  

Bass has served as a member of the Richmond Hill Exchange Club, where she recently held the position of vice president for the 2010-11 term. She has also served nearly seven years as a cheerleading coach, activity coordinator and member of the Richmond Hill Recreation Association. As a resident of Richmond Hill, she actively participates with the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador to promote an entrepreneur-friendly community.

  

Bass plans to continue her public service in the community by seeking office in the upcoming election as a Richmond Hill City Councilmember.

  

"My experience leads me to believe that it is time for a new generation of leaders to step up and lead within my community," Bass says.

  

Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc. is dedicated to the mission of assisting people with disabilities and other barriers to employment to live independently and become employed.
