On October 24th at the Historic Roundhouse, The Creative Coast Alliance (TCCa) will host the first Annual Innovation Awards, the next step in the grand evolution of the well-respected and supported Coastal Business, Education and Technology Alliance (cBETA) Technology Awards.

The awards ceremony will honor the best and brightest innovators in and around Savannah’s Creative Coast. In keeping with their track record for creating conversations that make good things happen, this event promises to bring together both established local leaders and up-and-coming key players in the fields of technology, design and development, including the non-profit, education and government sectors.

The cost per person is $75, but reservations made before October 1 qualify for a 20% discount. Any and all proceeds from this event will go to support programs, services, scholarships and/or causes as determined by the TCCa Advisory Board to be in keeping with the organization’s vision and mission.

"With its trademark creativity and flair for the dramatic, TCCa will offer a fresh take on traditional award ceremonies. There’s will be nothing like it in Savannah," said Marjorie Young of CarriageTrade PR, TCCa Advisory Board member and Innovation Awards committee chair.

An exceptional panel of judges have been assembled to evaluate a record breaking 99 deserving applicants, taking on the dubious task of determining who will receive top prize for innovative achievement in the categories of Education, Government, Non-profit, Sustainability, Start-up and Established Business.

The list of accomplished judges are experts in their fields, and include familiar faces and local leaders alongside regional and national players:

· Chris Miller, CEO of Creative Cities Consulting
· Martin Melaver, CEO of Melaver, Inc.
· Michelle Berryman, National Board President of the Industrial Designers Society of America
· Charles Ross, General Manager of the Advanced Technology & Development Center (ATDC) in Atlanta,
and manager of the 18 million dollar ATDC Seed Capital Fund
· Don McLemore, COO of the Herty Advanced Materials Development Center

Acknowledging the role of environmentally conscious behavior and policy in creative community building, the theme of this year’s Innovation Awards is sustainability. TCCa – in cooperation with Advisory Board member and Head of Sustainability at Melaver, Inc., Tommy Linstroth – hopes to help bring additional awareness by incorporating and highlighting environmentally responsible practices into all aspects of the event.

The celebration will feature cuisine by Cha Bella’s Earth to Table Catering, known for their fresh, local and organic fare. Music will be provided by local entrepreneurs TCCa has assisted — Howard Paul, CEO of Benedetto Guitars and Jody Espina, President of Jody Jazz, performing for the first time together in Savannah.

The Innovation Awards will also serve as a unique sponsorship opportunity for groups who align with the best of what Savannah is and can be. TCCa is offering two levels of promotional sponsorship that will allow local organizations to connect with the creative community through heavy branding and promotion at the event and TCCa’s extensive communications network, including their valuable reach on the web and local Blogosphere.
