Chef Matt Cohen, owner of The New South Café and founder of Savannah’s Coastal Catering Alliance (CCA), is proud to be catering The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum’s annual Warbirds Ball on Saturday, September 6th.
 
This year’s gala themed "Are the Stars Out Tonight?" begins at 6:30PM with a champagne reception and silent auction, followed with dinner by Chef Matt Cohen and music from the incredible Jeremy Davis and the Equinox Jazz Orchestra.  All proceeds from the gala support the Museum and its mission.  Tickets and exciting sponsorship opportunities are available.  Contact Susan Eiseman at 912.748.8888 ext 124.
 
Recently named In-house Caterer for the The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, this is Chef Matt Cohen’s first catered event at the location.

A fifth generation Savannah native, Chef Matt Cohen is a culinary expert who has worked in big name restaurants throughout New York and Atlanta.  A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, Cohen trained at one of the top rated culinary schools in the world.  Chef Matt was recently voted 2008 Best Chef of the Year in Connect Savannah’s annual Best of Savannah Readers’ Poll.  The New South Café was opened by Chef Matt in 2006 after great success with his long standing catering business Profession al Chef Services.  In 2008 Chef Matt Cohen founded The CCA, a local hospitality co-op made up of some of the area’s top chefs, which provides large scale catering services for up to 30,000 people. www.thenewsouthcafe.com 912-233-7558
 
Activated in 1942 in Savannah, GA the Eighth Air Force was an important strike element in World War II and remains an active force today. The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum honors the Mighty Eighth’s proud legacy by preserving the stories of courage, character and patriotism displayed by the men and women of the Eighth Air Force from World War II to the present. The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum is open daily from 9AM until 5PM except New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
