SAVANNAH ROTARY OFFERS 10 GRANTS OF $1,000 TO NON PROFITS

ROTARY OFFERS 10 GRANTS OF $1,000

(SAVANNAH, GA: October 28, 2013): Non-profit agencies in the Savannah area are invited to participate in The Rotary Club of Savannah’s Centennial Celebration in 2014 through the Century Service Awards.

Ten $1,000 grants are being offered to celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary of “Service Above Self” with a grant to be awarded each month from February through November.

The grants are offered to charitable 501(c) 3 organizations registered with the Georgia Secretary of State for business enhancements such as training, technology or capital improvements. The $1,000 must fully fund the project that will help the organization better serve the community.

The funds must be expended in 2014 and meet the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self,” passing the Rotary four-way test: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Applications are available on the Rotary of Savannah website, www.savrotary.org. They must be submitted by Nov. 15.

Receiving organizations will work with the Award Committee to develop a short presentation to members when the award is presented during a club meeting. The club meets Mondays at 12:30 p.m. at the DeSoto Hilton.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace.

The Rotary Club of Savannah was chartered on Jan. 12, 1914 with 42 members and now consists of more than 225 members. Members will celebrate its 100th anniversary with the Centennial Celebration Gala on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
