Savannah Youth Emergency Shelter Benefits From Boy Scouts Fundraiser

(SAVANNAH, GA) Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter was presented a $11,941 check from the Coastal Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America on Tuesday, December 15. The donation is a portion of the monies raised during the Boy Scouts’ 2nd annual “Over the Edge” fundraiser.

The annual scouting event is open to anyone who is willing to rappel eleven stories from the Manger Building in Historic Downtown Savannah. This year’s rappelling took place on Halloween and all funds raised directly support the local Boy Scouts inner city scouting program and other area non-profits such as the youth shelter.

Park Place Outreach operates the only youth shelter in Savannah and Chatham County. The 12 bed shelter is open year round, 24 hours a day and is free of charge for young people in need.

“We are so fortunate to have meaningful partnerships with area organizations such as the Boy Scouts,” said Linda Hilts, Park Place Outreach’s Executive Director. “This donation directly supports young boys and girls in need and at risk here at home.”
