The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society Announces Speech Language Pathologist to Talk at March Meeting

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) announces that Pamela Thompson, a Speech Language Pathologist, will be the speaker at their March meeting, taking place Tuesday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Fred Williams Homebuilder, Inc. Office, 100 Commerce Court in Pooler, Ga.

Thompson has experience in communication and swallowing disorders in a variety of environments including hospital, outpatient clinics and private practice. She also has extensive training and expertise in neurological disorders, apraxia, oral/motor/sensory deficits, hearing impairment, augmentative communication and swallowing disorders.

“With over 25 years of experience in the field, I am dedicated to providing quality Speech Therapy services for children who are experiencing communication and/or swallowing difficulties,” said Thompson, “My approach to therapy also includes family/caregiver training as well as advocacy for funding for therapy and assistive devices.”

Thompson received her Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology from the University of Georgia. Although she treats some of the LDSS families, this will be her first presentation to the group.

“Pam provides excellent services to many of our children. She’s great and loved by kids and parents alike,” said Molly Marchese, a founding member of LDSS and proud mother of Ella, 8, who has Down syndrome.

LDSS is a family support group to benefit people with Down syndrome. This year marks their 10th anniversary of helping the Savannah area, differently-abled community. The speech is free to attend, but visitors are asked to RSVP with Candy Bogardus at 912-663-8573 or jcbogardus@gmail.com .
