Enmarket Announces New Headquarters Location on Chatham Parkway
Plans New Offices, Revamped Retail and Other Buildings at Major Intersection

(SAVANNAH, GA) Enmarket, the Savannah-based convenience store chain, plans to build a new headquarters building as part of a new complex at Ogeechee Road and Chatham Parkway. The lot has been cleared and site work is currently underway.

“The Enmarket store count has increased by 66 stores since 2017, doubling in the last year alone, and creating more jobs that support our store operations,” said Brett Giesick, president of Enmarket. “These new jobs that are based out of our Savannah headquarters include positions in accounting, marketing, facilities and maintenance, information technology, and operations. We are excited to have this opportunity to build a state-of-the-art office for our employees.”

The company will build a new 22,000-square-foot office structure along with a second building of equal size that will be used as flex space and will provide room for future expansion.

The Enmarket store currently on the site will be rebuilt as a 5,900-square-foot Enmarket, complete with a 70-foot tunnel car wash. The store, car wash and offices are scheduled to open later this year.

Savannah-based general contractor West Construction Company has been selected as the builder for the project and construction is underway. WCC President Matt West states, “Enmarket has been a great corporate citizen in Savannah since 1963, and we’re proud that they have entrusted our team with this important chapter in their storied history.”

Included in the plans are two out-parcel lots earmarked for future development, sale or lease. The new headquarters is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2019.

National Study Confirms Horizons Savannah’s Long-Term Approach to Student Success

By | Local NewsWIRE

National Study Confirms Horizons Savannah’s Long-Term Approach to Student Success

(SAVANNAH, GA) A recent national study confirms that students who participate in Horizons programs have better school attendance, higher academic outcomes, fewer disciplinary referrals and fewer grade retentions.

Horizons Savannah

The new study, conducted by Concentric Research & Evaluation (CRE) and funded by The New York Life Foundation and the Scripps Family Fund for Education and the Arts, validates that Horizons programs that focus on long-term engagement with children from low-income families produce strong academic outcomes.

“We know the impact this program has on Savannah’s youth. We see it each summer, as we watch our kids progress year after year,” said Christy Edwards, executive director of Horizons Savannah. “To have a national study confirm that this program makes tangible differences in the lives of our program’s children is awe inspiring. Over the long term, Horizons is having a positive impact in our city and I praise the vision and leadership of our host schools, board of directors and donors that have always believed in our mission.”

When compared to their peers, students who have participated in the Horizons program for at least four summers had the following in common:

Higher attendance rates and lower rates of chronic absenteeism
Higher scores on standardized assessments of elementary math and science
Higher GPAs in 9th grade, a critical transition year
More course credit earned in 9th and 10th grades
Fewer times repeating a grade
Fewer disciplinary referrals
Most research on summer learning has found that students from low-income families fall behind their wealthier peers over the course of the summer, either because they are losing knowledge and skills or gaining them at a slower pace.

“These summer learning student outcomes reflect Horizons’ long-standing commitment to quality data collection and offer a significant contribution to the growing body of evidence on the long-term effects of summer learning,” said Matthew Boulay, founder and CEO of the National Summer Learning Association. “Horizons’ exemplary standards in programming not only inspire a joy of learning during the critical summer months but, most importantly, set students up to thrive in the school year ahead.”

The study looked at fifteen Horizons program sites in seven states, and, because it focused on long-term participants in the program, included only sites in operation for at least four years. Horizons Savannah has been in operation since 2002. Each Horizons student in the study was paired with a student who did not participate in Horizons but attended the same school or a school with similar demographics and achievement scores. Researchers used a variety of characteristics to match students, including gender, race and ethnicity.

ABOUT HORIZONS SAVANNAH
Recognized as one of America’s best summer learning programs, Horizons Savannah at Savannah Country Day School, Savannah Christian Preparatory School, Bethesda Academy and St. Andrew’s School welcomes over 250 low-income students each summer to a six-week summer enrichment program that helps prevent “summer slide”: the loss-of-learning that occurs during the summer. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, recreational and cultural activities, nutritious meals and snacks, caring professional teachers and creative, challenging instruction, we unlock a student’s potential to achieve. During the program, students gain an average of two months’ growth in reading and three months’ growth in math. Guests can “go all in” to support this event, which will feature Black Jack, Roulette, Craps, Texas Hold’em and Wheel of Fortune with the opportunity to win up to $3,500 in cash and other prizes.

“We hope that saying ‘the house always wins’ will ring particularly true when we find out how much we raise for the Ronald McDonald House,” said Sherry Daniel, owner of Roto-Rooter Plumbers of Savannah. “The Ronald McDonald House keeps families together when they need each other the most. The power of having your loved ones close can be transformative. So come and put your luck to the test, knowing that your good time will truly impact someone’s life.”

Georgia Hospice Care Announces New Website Designed by Speros

(SAVANNAH, GA) GHC (formally Georgia Hospice Care) is pleased to announce the launch of a newly designed website — http://ghcholdings.com/ — for the hospice provider in Georgia and South Carolina. The new site was adopted to transition the company’s Georgia branding into a name that would enable mulit-state use. Additionally, the company was seeking to enhance capabilities of the website for recruiting and raising the visibility of their non-profit 501c GHC Foundation for donations to support the companies charitable activities.

GHC Website designed by Speros

The design took approximately eight weeks to create and implement the new site. Designed by Speros, a full-service technology company headquartered in Savannah, the site features user-friendly navigation and a clean, professional design.

“The primary goal was to create a navigation scheme that made the site easy to use and informative,” said Lauren Dingus, web and graphics designer for Speros. “The group also needed a website that was interactive to include online forms, employment opportunities and a means for donations.”

GHC coordinated the launch of the new website to coincide with the expansion of their hospice services into South Carolina.

“We enjoyed the process of working with Speros and are thrilled with all aspects of the new website,” said GHC CFO and COO Kevin Gierc. “Our previous site was static with no interactive elements. This is a vast improvement for the families we serve.”

Felder & Associates Launches New Website Designed by Speros

(SAVANNAH, GA) Felder & Associates has just launched their redesigned website, felderassociates.net.

Designed by Speros, a full-service technology company in Savannah, the site has been restructured to better feature the architecture and design firm’s growing portfolio of work specializing in historic preservation, architectural design, project management, construction administration and interior design.

Felder & Associates New Website

“It was becoming more apparent the old website was not structurally well suited to showcasing our increasing number of photos and content,” said Brian Felder, the firm’s managing principal. “We wanted a site that better reflected our company’s character and standards and behaved consistently in different browsers. I’m pleased to say the Speros team was able to accomplish that.”

Lauren Dingus, Speros’ director of web design and marketing, updated the site’s visible aspects, first by repurposing a video highlighting various steps of the design process. It is now featured prominently on the home page and provides background interest while visitors browse through the site’s streamlined navigation menu.

Divided into three distinct sectors, Felder & Associates’ updated project portfolio features a variety of residential and religious projects, as well as some of the firm’s best known commercial work.

“We were able to create a more organized project portfolio and to assist viewers looking for specific work, as well as press releases and award information,” said Dingus. “The new navigation makes it easier for viewers to stay on the site while they move around and find the information they need.”

Felder & Associates’ updated website also includes information about the firm’s history and its growing team of associates, as well as a news gallery. For more information, visit https://felderassociates.net/
