Street Party on Isle of Hope Celebrating Centennial of St. Thomas Chapel, Dec 16

(ISLE OF HOPE, Ga.) The public is invited to a Street Party on Isle of Hope to celebrate the 100 years of the St. Thomas Chapel and in recognition of 100 years of ministry. The celebration will take place at 2 St. Thomas Avenue on Isle of Hope.

At 5:30 p.m. there will be a brief opening service outside the chapel with The Rt. Rev. Frank Logue, 11th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia. At 6:00 p.m. there will be live music from Junkyard Angel Quartet, local food trucks, free S’mores and Hot Chocolate for kids and adults.
St Thomas is encouraging people to bring their own chairs and coolers/beverages.

St Thomas Ave will be blocked from Cornus Drive to Cramer Street.

“We are happy to celebrate 100 years of ministry in the Isle of Hope community, and we would like to invite the people of Chatham County to come out and celebrate this historic occasion with us. We look forward to many more years of service in this special place,” said The Reverend Melanie Lemburg.

Since 1997, The St. Thomas Thrift Store has served the community by giving over $750,000 in grants to community organizations serving the citizens of Chatham County.

Over the last 30 years, St Thomas has also prepared and delivered 133,000 meals to the The Unseen Guest ministry at the Phoenix House through Union Mission. The Unseen Guest ministry provides hot meals for people living with HIV and AIDS.

ABOUT ST THOMAS
In December, 1922, St. Thomas Episcopal Church was established on the Isle of Hope.
Two lots were donated to the church by Maria Henderson and the historic St. Thomas chapel was completed and dedicated in December, 1923. The St. Thomas Episcopal Church has been, and continues to be a vital part of the Isle of Hope and Chatham County communities through its service and community outreach.
