(SAVANNAH, GA) On Tuesday, October 28, Bert Tenenbaum will talk about “Corporation’s 5 Waypoints on their Journey to Wellness” as the last lecture in the Enmark Encourage Health Educational Series 2014. Tenenbaum is the Corporate Director of Wellness at Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., parent company of Chatham Steel. Proceeds from this lecture will go to the YMCA of Coastal Georgia.
Prior to taking the position with Reliance, Tenenbaum served as president of Chatham Steel for almost 10 years. The corporate wellness program at Chatham Steel garnered much public attention. It was so successful, Chatham Steel’s parent company, Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., asked Bert to implement and run Reliance’s program nationwide.
“Since the late 1940s, companies have been offering healthcare to employees as a benefit. The cost of healthcare has skyrocketed over the past 20 to 30 years. Those of us in business have to manage our costs. Healthcare costs have become an increasingly bigger piece of the cost of doing business, at least for those who continue to offer healthcare as a benefit,” said Tenenbaum.
Tenenbaum’s lecture will discuss the important elements of what makes a successful wellness program. Some of his topics will cover the importance of company culture, management of costs, demographics and its impact on medical spend, employee lifestyle coaching, activities and incentives. In addition, the importance of health care benefit plan design, including prescription medication, will be discussed.
Tenenbaum said, “As we all know, it doesn’t take much to get hit between the eyes with something regarding healthcare in this country. The reason healthcare is such a big issue, not only for businesses but for the country itself, is that if you look at the cost projections, they are literally going to make quality healthcare much less affordable for business and individuals.”
This Enmark Encourage Health presentation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Savannah Morning News, located at 1375 Chatham Parkway in Savannah. Lunch and lecture tickets are $20. Checks should be made payable to the benefiting charity for this lecture; YMCA of Coastal Georgia. To purchase tickets, contact Susan Lindsey at 912-354-5480.
The YMCA of Coastal Georgia will also be raising funds on Saturday, October 25 at the Enmark Station located at 7406 Waters Ave from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this “Enmark Dollar Day” there will be opportunities for YMCA of Coastal Georgia to receive $1 for every car wash, $1 at their charity table and $1 donations will be accepted at the Enmark cash registers.
