(SAVANNAH, GA) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) is pleased to be the charity partner of the 3rd annual Kilt and Kolor Run on Saturday, March 19 along the Savannah Christian Prep School race track, located at 1599 Chatham Parkway. The non-profit organization has been selected to be the beneficiary of the 5K race and is assisting with coordination of the event.
“We are currently securing sponsors, volunteers and runners to assist with supporting the annual 5K race,” said Kim Watson, LDSS volunteer and race organizer. “There really is something for everyone at this race. Volunteers are needed for registration, working water stations and throwing color. And sponsors and runners are obviously an important component as well.”
Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. and the event begins with a clean, timed 5K race followed by a 1/4 mile kids’ fun run filled with color. Finally, the main event, at 9 a.m., is a 5K Kilt and Kolor Run. All participants receive two color powder bags, a t-shirt, medal and photo.
This marks the first year that the Kilt and Kolor Run proceeds are benefitting a Savannah area non-profit. Since 2006, LDSS has grown from a group of a few families to an organization serving Savannah and the surrounding counties through events such as The Buddy Walk, The Night of Champions and Camp Buddy.
