(SAVANNAH/BLUFFTON) Celia Dunn of Celia Dunn Sotheby's International Realty is helping to raise funds and acquire art for the Sweet Briar College art collection. She attended the Sweet Briar College Friends of Art Board Meeting this month in Sweet Briar, Virginia. The art faculty gives the board a wish list of artists they would like to see represented in the Anne Gary Pannell Gallery at Sweet Briar College. The gallery is named after the school president who served while Dunn was a student.
A traveling exhibit of some of the college’s art is being developed so the collection can be seen in museums around the country. This particular exhibit focuses on works of art on paper by contemporary female artists.
'The arts bring a human quality, a gentleness of spirit, to our lives,' Dunn said. 'Art brings a sense of beauty to one's life."
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Director Alexander Lee Nyerges was the keynote speaker at the Sweet Briar College Friends of Art Board Meeting.
The board has been able to secure funding for a museum-quality air system and continues to raise funds for artwork.
