(AUGUSTA, GA) Brenda Durant, Executive Director of The Greater Augusta Arts Council, highlighted in her Arts Weekly Radio Show that May’s First Friday celebration is featuring a special James Brown birthday celebration at the Imperial Theater at 5:30 pm. She also noted that this year’s downtown Loft tour takes place this weekend and includes tours of the Miller Theater.

(AUGUSTA, GA) In addition to promoting the Augusta Downtown Loft Tour (May 3 – 4), now in its ninth year, Historic Augusta is also highlighting its annual Cotton Ball, a tradition in Augusta since 1988. This casual affair  will be held this year on Thursday, May 16 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. and will take place in the gardens surrounding the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond John Doumar, located at 2644 Henry Street.

(AUGUSTA, GA) The next meeting of Live Augusta…Be a Downtowner, a new organization recently formed to promote downtown living, civic involvement and neighborhood social interaction will take place on April 30th at 4 pm in the offices of the Downtown Development Authority.
