Bauer Coslick to Speak at Upcoming Encourage Health Lecture Series
(SAVANNAH, GA) On Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bauer Coslick, L.Ac. will present his lecture “10 Ways to Reduce Inflammation in the Body to Improve Longevity Through Acupuncture Practices” as the fourth and final lecture in the 2016 Encourage Health Education Series.
The lecture will be hosted in the auditorium of the Savannah Morning News, 1375 Chatham Parkway. Coslick will discuss the healing effects of acupuncture and explain the science behind the medicine.
A healthy lunch will be provided. Attendance is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required at Healthy Savannah’s website, http://healthysavannah.org/event-sign-up-page/.
Coslick is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who is board certified in acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He maintains a state acupuncture license by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners of Georgia.
In addition to his private practice, Coslick works with the Anderson Cancer Institute’s Integrative Medical Program at Memorial Medical Center. He is pursuing a certification from the Institute of Functional Medicine with an emphasis on nutrition and nutrigenomics.
When treating disease, he combines biomedical based medicine, using a functional medicine model, with eastern oriental medicine to understand the whole medical picture.
When working with his patients, he explains the importance of diet, exercise and positive relationships in conjunction with his treatments. Coslick strives for each of his patients to improve their overall quality of life.
Coslick received his bachelor of fine arts in medical and scientific illustration from the University of Georgia. He earned his master’s degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in Portland, Ore.
While in school, he interned at the OCOM Community Clinic, treating a variety of problems such as insomnia, IBS, chronic fatigue and acute and chronic pain.
Coslick also trained at the Quest Center for Integrative Health where he specialized in breast cancer, HIV and immune system disorders. He went on to train with Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Integrative Oncology, which focused on the use of acupuncture to treat the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation as well as post-surgical issues such as pain and neuropathy.
During Coslick’s presentation, AMBUCS, a nonprofit organization focused on “inspiring mobility and independence for people with different abilities,” was selected to receive the $1,000 enmarket Encourage Health grant. Additionally, the winner of the $1,000 grand prize will be announced.
