CHATHAM COUNTY COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE FEB 29
(SAVANNAH, GA) The Chatham County Health Department is teaming up with The Blood Connection to host a community blood drive on Thursday, February 29. The event is in response to a critical shortage of A- blood in the Savannah community, but all blood-type donations are encouraged. You must be at least 16 years old and in good health to donate. The Blood Connection’s mobile bus will be outside the health department at 1395 Eisenhower Drive on February 29 from 10 a.m.– 3 p.m. All donors will receive a $70 eGift card from The Blood Connection. AMERICAN PUBLIC HEALTH RECOGNIZES HEALTHY SAVANNAH’S COMMUNITY HEALTH ADVOCATE PROGRAM
(SAVANNAH, GA) COVID-19 vaccination rates for Black and Hispanic residents living in Savannah and Chatham County have risen measurably over the past 18 months. Now, Healthy Savannah is receiving national attention for its Community Health Advocate program developed to elevate vaccine awareness, access and acceptance among those priority populations. Members of the organization’s REACH team were invited to speak at the APHA’S 2023 Annual Meeting & Expo in Atlanta where they explained why they developed the CHA program and how it has affected the community over the past couple of years.
