BUDDY WALK AND $33,000 CAR RAFFLE DRAWING OCTOBER 7 IN FORSYTH PARK

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society’s 18th Annual Buddy Walk and $33,000 car raffle drawing is scheduled for Saturday, Oct 7, in Forsyth Park, starting at 10:00 a.m. Participants will walk a mile around Forsyth Park and then kick off the Family Fun Event with the raffle drawing and announcement of raffle winner. Registration for the Buddy Walk is $15. The money raised at the Buddy Walk goes toward Camp Buddy, summer camps in Effingham and Chatham Counties to help students retain their skills over the summer break. HISTORIC SAVANNAH FOUNDATION PRESENTS 2023 ANNUAL GALA ON OCT 21

(SAVANNAH, GA) Historic Savannah Foundation will present one of Savannah’s most anticipated cultural events, the Historic Savannah Foundation Annual Gala, on the evening of Oct. 21. The Gala, which is the largest fundraising event for Savannah’s principal preservation organization, will be held at Kehoe Iron Works at Trustees Garden. A reception will open the night’s festivities at 6:00 p.m., with dinner and dancing at 7 p.m. Music for the black-tie event will be provided by the Emerald Empire Band.

PUTTING FOOD EQUITY ADVOCACY IN ACTION

(SAVANNAH, GA) The YMCA of Coastal Georgia, in partnership with Healthy Savannah, is piloting a new program to encourage food pantry donations that help put food equity advocacy into action. The program called SWAP (Supporting Wellness at Pantries) is being introduced at the Islands YMCA to advocate stocking the pantry with healthy items, provide clients with health resources, and implement healthy nudges.

HEALING HEROES: A TRIBUTE TO BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS

Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, WSAV will host Healing Heroes: A Tribute to Breast Cancer Survivors, a fashion show featuring breast cancer survivors from the area. Tickets are only $10.
