Community Intercessors to hold “Savannah United in Prayer” on September 11 in Forsyth Park Band Shell
Savannah churches invite public to band together to pray for the city, state and country

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Community Intercessors, an organization that includes several area churches, will hold a “Savannah United in Prayer” event on Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Forsyth Park band shell from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Community members and Savannah-area churches are invited to gather for a time of unity, repentance and prayer. It will be a time to bring all those who follow Christ together, in one accord, to ask for God’s mercy and favor for our city.

The event will acknowledge the increased crime rate that has plagued the city of Savannah in 2015 and 2016. According to the crime report issued at the end of May, Savannah has had 469 violent crimes, including 24 homicides, 200 robberies, 222 assaults and 23 reported rapes in the first five months of the year.

“Many churches in our area feel that our city can be healed by Our Lord if we come together as the Body of Christ, praying in unity for God’s forgiveness and mercy,” Kathy Todd, program coordinator, said. She went on to say “We believe it will be our unity and demonstration of Christ’s love for each other that will make the difference and bring healing to Savannah.”

The Community Intercessors represent a number of local area churches that include several denominations who have been praying weekly to bring about healing in our community. They encourage Christians throughout the region to pray together in unity. Following 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” It is their appeal to heaven, that Christians from all walks will join together for community praise and worship and will look to God for direction and mercy.

“Intercession is prayer that requests God’s will and pleads with Him for reconciliation and favor. Our city is in desperate need of unity and prayer. This is something tangible that each of us can do to make a difference”, said Rudy LoMonaco, a volunteer with Savannah United in Prayer.

The event is free. Donations are appreciated via checks made payable to The Hope Foundation–Savannah United in Prayer, mailed to 106 East 37th Street, Savannah Ga. 31401.
