Community Invited to Fall Open House at The Front Porch, a Community-based Risk Reduction Program Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition is among 11 local agencies providing oversight and operational support.

 

(Savannah, GA) The Front Porch, Where Youth and Families Gather, is inviting the community to a Fall Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The event will be held at 2203 Abercorn St. in Savannah. The purpose of the open house is to provide community members, civic leaders, and partner agencies the opportunity to explore the updated facility, meet the team, and learn more about the impact The Front Porch is making on families throughout Chatham County.

The Front Porch is a community-based risk reduction program established in 2018 per the Chatham County Blueprint by 11 local agencies including Chatham County Juvenile Court, Chatham County, City of Savannah, District Attorney of Chatham County, Savannah Chatham County Public School System, Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council, State of Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, Gateway Community Service Board, Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition, St. Joseph’s/Candler, and The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire, Inc.

The same agencies provide continued oversight and guidance for the Front Porch operation and its long-term strategies under the Blueprint’s strategy for Chatham County which focuses on the four key areas of economy, education, health, and quality of life.

This open house will offer a guided tour of the space, showcase recent improvements, and provide valuable insight into how The Front Porch collaborates with community organizations to address critical issues affecting local families. Attendees are invited to enjoy light refreshments, engage in conversations, and strengthen connections that benefit the community.

ABOUT THE FRONT PORCH
The Front Porch – Where Youth and Families Gather, is a multi-agency resource center, designed to divert at-risk youth from becoming involved with juvenile court by linking them and their families to services. It offers a community-based risk reduction program under the direction of 11 local governmental, public health and service agencies. Youth (up to age 18) who are referred to The Front Porch are assessed to identify any needs, concerning behaviors or situations that may warrant intervention. The Front Porch staff will then connect youth and families with appropriate services to address those needs. ABOUT COASTAL GEORGIA INDICATORS COALITION
The Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition (CGIC) is comprised of community members and advocates working together through a comprehensive coordinated approach for planning accountability to address overall health and well-being while leveraging resource initiatives. Also serving as the Chatham Family Connection Collaborative, CGIC is the local arm of the only statewide network in the country dedicated to the health and well-being of families and communities.
