Dr. Evelyn Higgins to Speak on “The Prescription for Life: 4 Pillars of Health” at June 26 Encourage Health Education Lecture
(SAVANNAH, GA) Dr. Evelyn Higgins will present a free lunchtime lecture on Tuesday, June 26, on how to look at health as more than just the absence of disease during the second of four 2018 Encourage Health Education Series events in Savannah.
Higgins will speak on The Prescription for Life: 4 Pillars of Health, which investigates the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual elements of wholeness. The presentation will be at the Demere Center for Living, 6000 Business Center Drive.
Higgins has trademarked 4 Pillars of Health and frequently presents her recognized philosophy “the prescription for life” when lecturing on health and wellness topics.
Higgins is a recognized international expert on fitness and diet and health and wellness. She is a graduate of the State University of New York and New York Chiropractic College. She also studied body, mind and spirit medicine at Harvard Medical with an emphasis on resiliency. Higgins is a certified addiction professional and diplomate of the American Board of Disability specializing in pain management.
Higgins has done broadcasts on public and commercial radio and is the host of The Dr. Evelyn Higgins Show, a nationally syndicated radio program. She has a 30-year history as a practicing doctor, author, columnist and national health care commentator. She is a keynote speaker and an international lecturer to both lay people and multidisciplinary physician groups.
Higgins has served as official team doctor for the 1996 Somali Olympic team and for the 1993-94 US/Ukranian team for the Round the World Whitbread Race. She is the founder and director of the Georgia chapter of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Higgins was one of only twenty broadcasters to participate in the 2013 and 2014 United Nations Radio Talk Day.
During the Encourage Health event, a $1,000 grant will be presented to Flux Nourishment Community for aiming to change the trajectory of health in communities by educating individuals on how to make nourishing lifestyle choices. The non-profit uses community-based participatory research and works with community leaders, including those in indigent and minority populations, to bring the message of empowering health through nourishment and to provide services to those in need of nutrition education and wellness coaching.
This marks the fifth year for the Enmarket Encourage Health Education Series, conducted in partnership with Healthy Savannah, Sandfly Family Dental, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., Clover Health, Hoist Water, Savannah Morning News and Savannah Magazine.
Each of the presentations in the 2018 Enmarket Encourage Health Education Series will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Demere Center for Living, located at 6000 Business Center Dr, Savannah, GA 31405.
