(SAVANNAH, GA) On Tuesday, June 21, Ellen Blossman, Ph.D. will present, “Eat Well and Boost Your Energy With Phytochemicals” as the second of four lectures in the 2016 Encourage Health Education Series. The lecture will be hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Savannah Morning News, located at 1375 Chatham Parkway.
Blossman said, “The goal of this presentation is to raise awareness of the role of phytochemicals for our health and inspire the audience to choose nutrient-dense foods that will boost the immune system and, thereby, promote better health.”
A healthy lunch will be provided to attendees. Attendance is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required at Healthy Savannah’s website, http://healthysavannah.org/event-signup-form-eat-well-and-boost-your-energy-with-phytochemicals/.
While scientific research supports the role of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes for our health, Blossman plans to bring another nutritional category, called phytochemicals, to our attention. Now that scientists are now able to measure and classify them, and have found they contain “anti-aging, anti-disease, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties.”
Blossman is a certified Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She also is certified in Advanced Food Healing Science and a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki® Master. She holds a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature and Language and is co-founder of Blue Heron Holistic Healing in Savannah, GA. Throughout her career, Ellen has given presentations in the United States, France, Spain, Mexico, and Brazil.
During Blossman’s presentation, Urban Hope, Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on helping the inner city children in Savannah create better lives for themselves, was selected to receive the $1,000 enmarket Encourage Health grant.
