Hospice Savannah awarded Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval®
SAVANNAH, GA (June 22, 2016) – By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s
national standards for health care quality and safety, Hospice Savannah, Inc. has again earned the
prestigious Gold Seal of Approval®. The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest
standards-setting and accrediting body in health care, conducted an on-site evaluation of Hospice
Savannah in April. It is the only hospice in the Coastal Empire to be awarded this indicator of
excellence in standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and
control, leadership and medication management.
The original hospice in our community, Hospice Savannah has been accredited by the Joint
Commission since 1998. “It is my hope that physicians and other medical professionals
realize that not all hospices are the same…If families want the best, they must insist on
Hospice Savannah’s care,” says Debra Anthony Larson, President and CEO. “Attaining
certification is a voluntary process that demonstrates our commitment to providing the
highest level of care. It shows we are making a significant investment in quality on a day-to-
day basis from the top down.”
