Airing live on WJCL 22 (ABC) from Jonesville Baptist Church, the forum offers voters across Coastal Georgia a rare opportunity to hear directly from the full Democratic field in a
substantive, issue-focused setting at the outset of the 2026 election cycle.

Greene, a South Carolina-based author, government relations consultant and award-winning home cook, is known for blending Southern humor, family history and cherished recipes in her storytelling. A Beaufort native, she has built a career using food and hospitality to forge connections in political, legislative and communitycircles, while also teaching weekly baking classes to homeless and at-risk youth in Columbia. The program is part of the free Libraries for Kids author series, with a $5 recommended donation, and will be followed by an optional Dutch treat lunch with the author. VOLUNTEER TRAINING
(SAVANNAH, GA) Hope Haven Savannah Respite will host a volunteer training on Jan. 16 at St. John’s Church, 27 W. Charlton St. Hope Haven is a day respite ministry offering a welcoming, social club-style program for adults living with early- to mid-stage dementia while providing caregivers with much-needed support and personal time. The training is open to the public and offers an opportunity to learn about the program without a commitment to volunteer. Volunteers serve on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., with flexible roles to match a variety of interests and schedules. HEALTHY SAVANNAH DONATES BREASTFEEDING RESOURCE BOOKS TO LIBRARIES
(SAVANNAH, GA) Healthy Savannah has strengthened community support for breastfeeding families by using a $2,480 mini-grant from La Leche League to donate 75 copies of the renowned book, “The Art of Breastfeeding,” to libraries and partner organizations across Savannah and Chatham County. The organization delivered 45 copies to the Bull Street branch of the Live Oak Public Libraries system on Tuesday, Dec. 9, and plans to provide additional copies to local organizations and at events supporting pregnant and breastfeeding mothers over the next few months.

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Metropolitan Planning Commission is seeking input from local health and community organizations to help build the new Health Impact Monitor, a tool that will track health-related progress across Savannah and Chatham County as part of the 2045 Comprehensive Plan. Organizations involved in walkability, food access, parks and recreation, environmental health, housing stability, and community well-being are invited to complete a brief survey below. The information collected will help shape the health priorities, metrics, and accountability structure in Plan 2045. The public can also follow project updates throughout the year on the Plan 2045 website and review goals from the previous plan.
