Local Savannah PR Firm CEO Speaks at 2015 PRSSA “Brand Yourself” Regional Conference Held at Georgia Southern University
(SAVANNAH, GA) Marjorie Young, CEO and President of Carriage Trade PR, Inc. served as a panelist for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) regional conference on Saturday, March 28. The conference, “Brand Yourself: The Art of Reputation Management,” was one of 10 held across the nation by various chapters.
“Brand Yourself” was the third Regional Conference being hosted by the PRSSA chapter at GSU in five years; past Regional Conferences were hosted in 2011 and 2012.
“I asked the students ‘What do you see when you Google yourself?’” Young said, “Part of reputation management is realizing you are your brand and what you do will affect that.”
Those in attendance hear speeches on the importance of brand and reputation management in a time where social media is taking a dominant role in communication. In addition, attendees were introduced to tools needed to begin building their own brand. Reputation management which is a growing trend in the field of Public Relations will also be discussed along with ways to maintain one’s personal reputation or client’s reputation. The Regional Conference hosted prominent public relations experts from different niches in the field.
Heidi Foon, president of the PRSSA Chapter at GSU and Regional Conference Coordinator, said, “Our Chapter is so fortunate to have brought this opportunity to the Georgia Southern community. Our conference not only benefited the future of our students but also the future of their profession.”
“Brand Yourself” gave students opportunities to connect with professionals and with students from other universities in the southeastern region. Students from all majors and professionals were encouraged to attend and were asked to dress professionally, bring resumes and/or business cards and be ready to network.
