Park Place Outreach – Youth Emergency Shelter Celebrates 30 Years

(SAVANNAH, GA) Park Place Outreach – Youth Emergency Shelter celebrates 30 Years of providing support to homeless, abused or runaway children and teens between the ages of 11 and 17. Serving youth since 1984 who are going through stressful periods at home or who are victims of abuse, Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter is the only facility in Savannah and Chatham County serving this sector of the population.

Working with individuals and local organizations, Park Place Outreach plays an important role in the Savannah/Chatham community, having helped over 6,112 individuals through 2013. The organization provides a safe and loving environment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to children and teens who self-admit themselves into the 12-bed shelter.

Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter’s Street Outreach Program attempts to help kids on the street up to age 21. This program offers counseling, clothing and personal care items to adolescents in need who might not come to the shelter. Whenever possible the organization attempts to keep kids off of the street and reunify families.

Pat Peshoff served as the Director of Park Place Outreach for six years. Recently visiting the property, Peshoff said, “I left Park Place Outreach in 1992. Since then, the shelter has progressed in many ways. It looks like a much better facility for the youth with more staff support and better services. I was quite impressed by my visit.”

Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter, located at 514 E. Henry St., provides support for troubled children and teens in Savannah and the surrounding area. Their mission is to provide services to at-risk youth and their families, increasing their functional level.
