(POOLER, Ga.) Goodwill of the Coastal Empire, Inc. continues its rapid growth under the leadership of President & CEO, Mohsen Badran, with the opening of a new Goodwill full-service complex at 1115 Grand Central Boulevard in the Godly Station area of Pooler.
On Thursday, January 16, the Pooler Goodwill will host the grand opening of this 15,000 square-feet facility that will house a full-scale retail center, a Job Connection Center and a donation drop-off center.
The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with a fashion show produced by community volunteer Ashley Borders, and will feature quality Goodwill apparel modeled by some of the community’s best-known business and community leaders. The list of models includes: Diana Morrison of Advertising Specialty Services; Celia Russo of Celia Russo Marketing, Jenny Gentry of Wells Fargo Bank, Patty Mcintosh of Melaver McIntosh, Joe Marinelli of Visit Savannah, Mark Howard of the Memorial Foundation, Interim Police Chief Terry Enoch, Paula Fogarty of South Magazine, Marjorie Young of CarriageTradePR and her intern Cynthia Wright, Charisse Bennett of the Creative Coast, Tina Henson of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, Joe Marchese, Marchese Construction, Adel Karam of PetSmart, Melissa Hall of Cora Bett Realty, and Molly Rowe of SCAD. Several other local notables have been invited but are yet to confirm. The public will be invited to purchase the ensembles displayed by the celebrity models.
A key component of this new facility is the Pooler Job Connection. The new Job Connection Center serves as the ninth in the region. It will offer job seekers access to job leads and provides the technology resources to prepare job seekers for successful job searches. The Job Connection Manager serves as an onsite coordinator that works with individuals to explore different career interests and develop a plan based on the individual’s personal job goals.
The Job Connection offers assistance with resume writing, interviewing skills, health and wellness education, financial literacy, and many other classes. Career fairs and other networking opportunities are open to the public. Free computer and internet access enables applicants to view job postings and submit their job history online.
Additionally a Goodwill Job/Resource Fair is scheduled for the grand opening day from 10 am to 2 pm at the Job Connection. More than 15 employers from the area will be onsite to interview and hire.
The fashion show beings promptly at 9:30 a.m. and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony commences at 10 a.m. There will be prizes, giveaways and valuable coupons from local stores and restaurants.
On Saturday, January 18, a workshop is to take place in the Job Connection Center 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. titled, Re-Tailoring Your Wardrobe. The wardrobe expert presenters will offer advice on how redo and make-over Goodwill purchases and things already in your closet.
