Linda Hilts Lamas, Executive Director of Park Place Outreach, Inc., will be the guest speaker for the September 11th installment of the Renaissance Lecture Series. The focus of the discussion will be on Park Place and how family members can help in a runaway situation.
There are a number of things a family member can do when it comes to the warning signs of a potential runaway. Lamas will cover those points, which include
Lamas is a past board member of the Chatham-Savannah Authority of the Homeless, representing runaway and homeless youth issues. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Network of Youth and Family Services, which is a network of approximately 80 youth and family services agencies in eight southeastern states. In addition, she serves on the Alumni Board of Directors at her alma mater, AASU.
Park Place Outreach provides emergency shelter and street outreach for adolescents ages 11 through 17 and their families. It is the only agency located within Chatham County that serves youth at no charge who are accepted without a referral to receive help. Park Place Outreach opened in 1984. Each month, Magnolia Manor hosts the Renaissance Lecture Series at its Richmond Hill campus. The event begins at 5:30 and includes a light supper. After the guest concludes his/her speech, a question and answer session follows. The event is free and open to the public, but guests are asked to RSVP by calling Julie Gartside at (912) 756-4300.
