(SAVANNAH / BLUFFTON) Jeff Klein, owner and president of Closet Specialist LLC, is pleased to announce the completion of his most recent endeavor. It is a 16-page color booklet titled “Design and Construction Techniques.” Geared toward builders, architects and interior designers, it is a step by step guide on how to create more potential closet and sto rage space in new construction and remodeling projects at no additional cost to the builder or the homeowner.
The purpose of the project, Klein says, is to eliminate the most common complaints to builders and designers: “If only the builder had done differently, we could have designed in so much more storage space.” Homeowners repeatedly complain that valuable space has been squandered because someone did not plan in advance. This, Jeff says, is the responsibility of the storage industry… his industry, to educate their partners in the construction industry. The goal is to create more potential storage space at little or no cost to the builder or the homeowner.
The guide covers every area of potential storage space a home could have, from small reach-in closets to majestic walk-in closets. It covers the most common obstacles that impede space efficiency and their remedies. Plus, the booklet includes cost saving techniques… a common interest amongst industry professionals and homeowners alike.
The booklet’s first edition was unveiled March 21-23 at the 3rd Annual CLOSETS & Home Organizations Conference & Expo in Chicago. Two thousand copies were initially printed and all were gone after the first day of the conference. Since then, an additional 10,000 copies have been printed and distributed both nationally and internationally.
This October, Jeff will be a featured speaker at the Woodworking Machinery Expo in Toronto, Canada to introduce the booklet to the Canadian closet industry. That’s where the booklet will go to another level. In Canada, it will be unveiled in French and Spanish, something Klein never imagined.
“I knew the book would be a success, but no one could have ever told me it would do this well so soon,” Klein says.
“I’m really proud of it. It’s something the closet and storage industry needs, and in the end , the homeowner reaps the benefits.”
Proceeds from the booklet go to ACSP (Association of Closet and Storage Professionals www.closets.org), a non-profit trade organization that caters specifically to closet and storage professionals internationally. Klein serves as Chairman of the ACSP Standards Committee, which is responsible for the completion of the booklet and also serves on the ACSP National Board of Directors.
