(SAVANNAH, GA) Low Country Dermatology held a holiday donation drive through Monday, December 21, in an effort to collect much needed supplies for the Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire. Dr. Howington and her daughters presented the items collected to Bill Sorochak.
“Having been blessed with a healthy family, I can only imagine what the residents must be facing,” said Dr. Howington. “The holiday season is such a time for giving, and I am so thankful to my patients and our community who came together to help us spread some cheer to these deserving families.”
Donation items included: disinfectant wipes; individually wrapped snacks; paper plates and bowls; plastic utensils; toilet bowl cleaner; windex; white wash cloths; dreft Laundry detergent; the Free and Clear Laundry HE detergents; 60 watt light bulbs; and measuring cups.
“We aim to provide a ‘home away from home’ for families who live more than thirty miles away and who have a critically ill or injured child receiving treatment at one of the local hospitals,” said Bill Sorochak, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire’s Executive Director. “The items that Dr. Howington collected will help us support the thirteen bedroom house we run.”
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire is to create, find and support programs that directly enhance the health and well-being of children and families. The house operates on a waiting list most of the year. For more information, visit http://www.rmhccoastalempire.org/about-our-house.html
