FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAVANNAH, GA — The
region’s top bands will headline
an afternoon filled with
festivities for all ages as The
Savannah Bama Club unites with
local businesses to raise funds for
the tornado victims of Alabama’s
hardest hit areas. The city’s most
iconic symbol of hospitality, The
Waving Girl, will mark the spot for the June 5 event, “Bands for Bama,” orchestrated by
more than 100 members of the club who have been working behind the scenes for the
past few weeks.
Organizers say the lush riverfront setting at Morrell Park will provide a picturesque stage
for food, fun, and some of the area’s most tempting local fare, and proceeds from
admissions and concessions will go directly to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund of
Alabama (GERF). Local bands including Junkyard Angel, Wormsloe, Southern Tide
Bluegrass Band, and Jeff Beasley, will be playing throughout the afternoon. A silent
auction will be ongoing and items included in the auction are an impressive array of
signed sports memorabilia, resort packages, restaurant gift certificates, and more! A
variety of children’s activities — from face painting to Silly Dilly the Clown and a
bounce castle — will round out the event’s family theme.
Admission is $30 for families and $15 per person (half price with Military ID). Children
under the age of 12 are admitted free. All proceeds are 100 percent tax deductible and
checks should be made out to Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund of Alabama. Tickets
are available the day of the event at the gate. Visit the Facebook page at Savannah-Bama
Aid for more information. Contact Michael Taylor, president of the Savannah Bama
Club, at taylorme@comcast.net, or by calling, (912) 441-1168, to make a donation.
