(SAVANNAH, GA) Mary Bell has been named to the Board of Directors of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Savannah. She was named to the board at the organizations most recent meeting in February.
Bell's history with CCCS is quite remarkable, as she was once a CCCS client. With $28,000 in debt to the Internal Revenue Service and credit cards, she felt she had no control over her finances. She signed up with CCCS in the year 2000, and 5 years later, was proudly debt free. Bell says being named to the board is like a reward for her accomplishments.
"It feels great, because I was once in debt myself," she says. "I understand what financial struggles are all about and being on the board will allow me to give back to the community."
CCCS President Sonny Colley says naming Bell to the Board was a great move.
"We are very pleased to have a person of Mary's caliber on our team," Colley says. "It's great to have her involved in helping other people to achieve their financial goals as she has done."
Shortly after paying off her debt, Bell set her sights on a new goal. She signed up with Phoenix University, and now has a master's degree in Management. Plus, she works full-time as a sales representative for the company K-Machine.
Bell and the other board members will meet 4 times a year to discuss CCCS and how the organization continues to serve Savannah and the surrounding community.
