For the fifth consecutive year the Old Savannah City Mission is creating another calender for 2009. The 2008 Calendar was titled “Year of New Beginnings.” The Mission’s leaders are calling next year, “Year of Dreams Fulfilled.” Community-minded businesses, local organizations and churches are invited to sponsor a month. The official kick off to the Year of Dreams Fulfilled Calendar will be Wednesday, August 27th at 10:30 a.m. in the Mission dining room. This event is open to the public.
The 2009 calendar will feature the photography of Liza Crowley Judson. She has most recently participated in the Telfair Art Fair and Red Gallery’s Small Works Show and numerous charitable art auctions. She currently works for The Savannah College of Art and Design as an academic adviser. To learn more about her work, log on to www.lizacrowleyjudson.com.
Old Savannah City Mission aspires to be “Savannah’s Five Star Gospel Rescue Mission" with high standards, strong boundaries and clear direction. Its mission is to change lives through proclaiming the Gospel, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, rehabilitating the addict, and restoring the ex-offender. In 2007 the mission provided 122,074 meals and more than 27,000 shelter beds without one dime of tax payer funds.
The Mission is a Savannah based non-profit organization, works with a staff of just seven employees; however, there are hundreds of volunteers who deliver services to the community’s most vulnerable and needy citizens in a highly cost effective way.
