(SAVANNAH, GA) Savannah Country Day School will honor the memory of former Headmaster Tom Triol, and his beloved wife Jane, with a celebration of their lives on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Tom and Jane Triol are an integral part of Savannah Country Day School history. Tom taught chemistry and biology in the early days and served successfully as dean of students, coach of several sports, principal of Upper School, assistant headmaster, and headmaster. Toms wife, Jane, taught science to virtually every graduate of Country Day. She believed in me more than I believed in myself, and it worked, one former student commented.
In December of this past year, Tom Triol, whose service to the Savannah Country Day extended from 1955-1983, passed away in Morganton, N.C. Memorial services were held for Jane Triol (November 2004) and Tom in Morganton at the time of their passing, but many of those whose lives Tom and Jane touched were not able to attend. For that reason, Savannah Country Day is hosting A Celebration of the Life of Tom and Jane Triol on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. on the Savannah Country Day School Campus in Jelks Auditorium.
Participants include: Tom Bonnell, current SCDS Headmaster, The Reverend Michael Bailey from The First Presbyterian Church of Morganton, NC, Bill Saunders, previous SCDS Athletic Director and Business Manager, Paul Pressly, previous SCDS Headmaster, as well as various others who knew these two memorable people. Greetings from the Triol daughters, Debbe Perry and Helen Drozd, will be shared and the SCDS Chorus will perform the school Alma Mater. A reception will follow.
This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Triols extraordinary legacy of teaching, dedication, and service to Country Day and the Savannah community for almost three decades.
