Find out which designer is the winner of the Storefront Window Makeover at Grand Harbour Homestore, in Savannah’s own version of ‘Top Designer.’ Will it be Andy Resende, Kathy Sliz, or Genevieve Balogh? Find out at the VIP party and reception on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. at Grand Harbour Furniture Store, Abercorn Common Shopping Center.

Up-and-coming designers Resende and Balogh are Savannah College of Art and Design. Sliz, an established designer in the Savannah area, is the interior decorator/owner of Interiors by Decorating Den.

The finale party is sponsored by Loco’s Grill and Pub.

The three local interior designers competed in Savannah’s own version of interior design television show "Top Design." Instead of a panel of judges deciding who wins, though, Savannahians got to vote on the best design. Voters had a chance to win a $50 Grand Harbour store gift certificate.

Aiming to creating a beautiful or dramatic design vignette, each competitor tackled the challenge by demonstrating his or her style. Using beautiful imported furniture and unique home accent pieces, the three designers each created a storefront window design by using furniture and accessories found in 10,000 square feet of showroom space from Grand Harbour Homestore in the Abercorn Common shopping center at White Bluff and Abercorn in Savannah.

"The customers enjoyed having their opinions heard and being the judge," said Shannon Hall of Grand Harbour Homestore. "They wanted to keep it secret who they were voting for – that was pretty funny." The designers will find out who won at the party, and Hall said it was a close vote. "The designers enjoyed seeing themselves highlighted, and it was a different aspect of design for them."
Local designers and interior design students submitted their names to become eligible for the contest, and three names were drawn randomly.

The winning designer will be honored with the VIP Warehouse Party Jan. 14 sponsored by Loco’s Grill & Pub, publicity of the achievement, exclusive designer referrals for one month, and in-store and website visibility. The Storefront Makeover Contest will continue through 2009 with two designers competing for votes each month.
