The New South Café is re-opening after weeks of renovating and remodeling, to display the very first wine bar in Midtown. Guests are invited to celebrate the restaurant’s renovation and expansion on Tuesday, September 16th at 11:30 AM. Come out to see the restaurant’s new look, try signature items off of their Fall menu, and enjoy exotic wine samplings from their exclusive wine bar. “We are very excited about re-introducing The New South Café to the public,” says owner, Chef Matt Cohen. “Our amazing wine bar and new menu really puts on display just how special we are at The New South Café. Nobody in town can do what we do— fabulous food, great service, and no menu item over $25.”
The New South Café’s exclusive Wine Bar is the first of its kind in Midtown, making The New South Café a unique establishment in that area. Seating capacity has doubled with the addition of the Wine Bar, offering guest seating throughout the bar area in addition to the original restaurant dining room. The Wine Bar offers the best regional, domestic and international wines available in the city. In addition to the expanded wine list, new beer selections and a new fall menu are being rolled out.
Many of Chef Matt Cohen’s signature items will remain on the Fall menu along with the addition of some scrumptious new items which will be offered at the special VIP opening, including: Chef John’s New South Cafe Pecan-Crusted Pork chop stuffed with caramelized bacon and Vidalia Onion; Pulled BBQ Brisket of Beef Crepe with southern style homemade coleslaw; The New South Panini Sampler which includes a Crab cake Panini, Beer Battered Fried Green Tomato Panini, and Lobster Panini with homemade honey-mustard Mayo; and the very unique Peanut Butter Jelly & Banana Monte Cristo Sandwich.
Opened in 2006, The New South Café is an innovative restaurant at the forefront of redefining classical southern cuisine. A fifth generation Savannah native, Chef Matt Cohen is an award winning, culinary expert who has worked in big name restaurants throughout New York and Atlanta. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, Cohen trained at one of the top rated culinary schools in the world. Chef Matt was recently voted 2008 Best Chef of the Year in Connect Savannah’s annual Best of Savannah Readers’ Poll.
The New South Café is open Tuesday through Saturday, opening at 11:30am with their last seating beginning at 8:30pm. Upscale catering services are available in-flight, for corporate events, conventions, executive lunches, private parties, weddings, receptions and bar mitzvahs.
