The USGBC Savannah Green Product Expo will be held Tuesday April 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Charles Morris Center, 10 East Broad St. Tickets are $10 but free with a student ID. There will be free food, a cash bar and door prizes, as well as green products from more than 30 vendors.
 
The United States Green Building Council, Savannah branch is hosting a product show that will feature green building products and services from local suppliers and building professionals. Attendees will be able to experience first hand new and exciting "green" products from a variety of vendors. Geared towards homeowners and design professionals alike, the Green Product Expo will showcase the latest and greatest in sustainable materials, from countertops to paints to solar panels.
 
There will be a healthy, delicious menu in store from Cha Bella, included in the expo ticket price:
 
· A selection of raw and chilled Low Country seafood, lightly seasoned with appropriate sauces and garnishes
 
· Fresh Georgia wild panko crusted shrimp skewers with a ginger peach dipping sauce
 
· Fresh farm salad station, with a selection of locally grown produce and vegetables with their own sugar cane strawberry vinaigrette, creamy Parmesan peppercorn and balsamic vinaigrette dressings
 
· Fresh artisanal cheeses and antipasto display, a diverse display of cured meats, grilled and pickled vegetables, and fresh baked breads

· Energy Star appliances
 
· Low VOC paints and coatings
 
· Green Label carpets
 
· Sustainable cabinetry
 
· Rapidly renewable flooring products
 
· Solar power and water heating products
 
· Energy Star light fixtures
 
· Recycled content countertop surfaces
 
· Water-saving plumbing fixtures
 
 
In working with Cha Bella and the Morris Center, this will be a "Zero Waste Event." Cha Bella chef and owner Matt Roher explained that all green waste and protein waste will be recycled or composted at their own Avondale Farm, and that all recyclable materials from ingredients received and such will be recycled. Plates, drinkware and utensils will be compostable or reusable, he said.

The Savannah Chapter of the United States Green Building Council is dedicated to promoting sustainable design and green building throughout the Creative Coast. The group meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday of the month. The meetings are open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend. The USGBC-Savannah Chapter seeks to educate the public on the long-term benefits of green building and how sustainable design can be integrated or implemented into one’s life. www.usgbcga.org
