The Georgia Historical Society’s Georgia History Festival Continues with Multiple Events in February

(Savannah, GA) The Georgia Historical Society’s Georgia History Festival continues in February with a weekend of educational events for students and families in recognition of the founding of Georgia on February 12, 1733. The festivities begin with the Colonial Faire and Muster on Saturday, February 8, and Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Wormsloe State Historic Site in Savannah.

Featuring costumed interpreters and vendors, the Colonial Faire and Muster offers visitors of all ages a taste of the excitement and adversity of life for the colony’s early settlers. Highlights include cannon and musket firing; blacksmithing, craft, and cooking demonstrations; Native-American life interpretations; storytelling; and period music and dance. This popular living-history program is free on Sunday, thanks to sponsorship from Gulfstream, with additional support from the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Georgia. Entrance fees apply on Saturday. For more information about Saturday admission, please visit the Wormsloe Historic Site website.

Sunday, February 9, 2025, is also the Georgia History Festival’s Super Museum Sunday, when 130 sites across the state of Georgia offer free admission to visitors. Attendees can experience our state’s rich history and cultural life as historic sites, house museums, art museums, and other points of interest open to the public, providing an exceptional opportunity to experience history in our own backyard. Super Museum Sunday is sponsored by SouthState Bank and The Coca-Cola Company. To see a full listing of participating sites, visit georgiahistoryfestival.org.

The Georgia History Festival is the signature K-12 educational program of the Georgia Historical Society, reaching hundreds of thousands of students statewide. Beginning with the new school year in September, a variety of public programs, exhibits, events, and educational resources bring history to life for students of all ages and encourage Georgians to explore the richness of our state’s past. In addition to new online and in-
person opportunities, the Festival includes popular annual events such as the Colonial Faire and Muster living-history program held at Wormsloe State Historic Site, Super Museum Sunday, the Georgia Day Expo, and the elegant Trustees Gala.
