(TYBEE ISLAND, GA) Randy Carlisle has recently been hired as General Manager of the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort on Tybee Island. He comes to the Savannah area from the Outer Banks on the coast of North Carolina and has 25 years experience in the hospitality industry, working for some of the biggest hotel brands.
As General Manager, Carlisle is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day efficient and professional operation of all the hotel departments, including front office, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, food and beverage, and sales. In addition, he is responsible for ensuring that hotel guests are always provided with the best experience possible during their stay.
“I look forward to working here at the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort because I share the vision that our owner, Harry Spirides, has for the property,” Carlisle says. “I see great potential here, and, of course, I love living in such a beautiful area. We are going to make some real positive changes in the way we provide customer service and are gearing up for a very busy and successful 2011.”
Ocean Plaza owner and Chief Executive Officer Harry Spirides says that Carlisle’s distinguished career in the hospitality industry, along with his status as a veteran U.S. Navy surface warfare officer with many years of military leadership and management experience, will serve the Ocean Plaza well.
“Over the past six weeks that he has been working here at Ocean Plaza, I have seen him in action, calmly leading his team in a fast-paced and rigorous work environment,” Spirides says. “He is always calm under pressure and pleasantly gets the job done fast and right the first time. He is a firm believer in quality customer service training and enjoys spending time speaking with our guests to ensure their satisfaction.”
During his 25-year career in the hospitality industry, Carlisle has been affiliated with Embassy Suites, Sheraton, Radisson, Holiday Inn and Choice Hotels in urban, suburban and resort areas in North Carolina and Virginia. He is a Certified Hospitality Administrator (CHA) and a Certified Food and Beverage Executive (CFBE). Carlisle received a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
