The Play It Forward Concert is a jazz concert tribute for Benjamin M. “Ben” Tucker, an American jazz bassist, who played on albums by Art Pepper, Billy Taylor, Quincy Jones, Grant Green, Dexter Gordon, Hank Crawford, Junior Mance, and Herbie Mann. His home was Savannah, GA. Tucker wrote the original instrumental version of the song “Comin’ Home Baby!”, first issued on the album “Two Feet in the Gutter”. He died on June 4, 2013.
The concert is a collaborative fundraising effort of the Georgia Coastal Area Rotary Clubs, including: West Chatham, Savannah, Savannah East, Savannah Sunrise, Savannah West, Metro, and Skidaway Island. The Coastal Bank is also supporting the Play It Forward Concert as a title sponsor.
Over the past 4 years, the annual concert has raised funds for the Rotary Foundation and rotary initiatives. The Savannah Rotary pledges that eighty percent (80%) of their funds raised this year will go toward the Centennial playground project and twenty percent (20%) will go to the Rotary Foundation. The other participating Rotary clubs pledge funds to the Rotary Foundation, local programs and charities.
This event is open to the public. Tickets cost $35. For more information, contact info@RotaryPIF.org or visit http://www.rotarypif.org/
