(Savannah, GA) Savannah State University Business College Hosts Executive Exchange Lecture Series

(SAVANNAH, GA) The AACSB accredited College of Business Administration at
Savannah State University introduces a new series of lectures, “Executive
Exchange.” The series begins in April and is open to both students and members
of the community. The first lecture will take place Thursday, April 3 at 1 p.m.
in the Torian Auditorium in the Jordan Business Building at the SSU campus.

The premiere lecture of the series features two national business executives,
Mr. James Scavo of the Weinstock & Scavo, P.C. law firm and Mr. Jack Shafer,
former CEO for Dunkin’ Donuts, Baskin’ Robbins and TOGO’s. Both Mr. Scavo and
Mr. Shafer have been integral players in the business community on local,
national and international levels.

This first lecture in the series will provide the students with exposure to
real world business experiences,” says Dr. Mostafa Sarhan, Professor and Dean of
the College of Business Administration. “Additionally, this lecture will provide
an opportunity for Savannah and surrounding communities to learn more about the
college and its role in the area.”

Mr. Scavo is a named partner at Weinstock & Scavo, P.C., a fifty-plus attorney
law firm located in Atlanta and Savannah. His firm conducts general civil
practice and representation of clients throughout Georgia and the United States.
Mr. Scavo and his firm are involved in business transactions that range from
clients commencing start up businesses to sophisticated business transactions
involving established enterprises. The firm is also extensively involved in
litigation and trial work throughout the United States and is well known for its
trial successes.

Mr. Scavo was admitted to the state bars of Georgia and California in 1976 and
1983, respectively. He graduated with honors from the State University of New
York at Oswego in 1973 and St. John’s University School of Law in 1976. At St.
John’s, he was a member and editor of the St. John’s Law Review. He is a past
chairman of the Atlanta Bar Real Estate Section and currently writes the Sunday
“Ask the Attorney” column for the Savannah Morning News.

Mr. Scavo is a nationally sought after speaker and has been significantly
involved in writing articles and presenting legal seminars through Continuing
Legal Education programs and industry trade organizations across the country.

John (Jack) Daniel Shafer, Jr. spent his entire career of 31 years with Dunkin’
Donuts and Allied Domecq, the umbrella company which acquired Dunkin’ Donuts.
Mr. Shafer started as a district manager in Western Michigan and retired as the
national and international CEO for Dunkin’ Donuts, Baskin’ Robbins and TOGO’s.

Mr. Shafer graduated from Colgate University in 1966 with a major in psychology
and received his masters from the University of Virginia Graduate School of
Business Administration, with a concentration in marketing. Following his
collegiate career, he joined the Army and was a Personnel Psychologist and
Mental Testing Officer at the Armed Forces Entrance and Examining Station, among
many other positions and extensive training. Mr. Shafer has been on numerous
boards such as the Allied Retailing USA and International Boards and was a
member of the Executive Committee of Allied Domecq.

Mr. Shafer currently serves as president and owner of Night Hawk Consulting,
which specializes in food service and franchise consulting. He currently resides
in Duxbury, Mass. and Richmond Hill, Ga., and is a member of the Ford Plantation
in Richmond Hill, serving on Ford’s five-person management committee.

The topics covered throughout the lecture series will range from ethics,
leadership, and lessons learned from real world experiences, among a variety of
other business related issues.
