| HEALTHY SAVANNAH, FORSYTH FARMERS’ MARKET AND CITY LEADERS SPEAK AT NATIONAL ANTI-HUNGER POLICY CONFERENCE
(WASHINGTON, D.C./SAVANNAH, Ga.) – Nichele Hoskins, COVID-19 Flu communication manager and a Forsyth Farmers’ Market board member moderated a panel at the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference held in May 2023 in Washington, D.C. The expert panel, consisting of Deidre Grim, PhD, FFM executive director; Savannah Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier, and Tasha Wei, FFM director of education, discussed demographics, politics and the work toward food justice in Chatham County. The conference was co-sponsored by the Food Research and Action Center and Feeding America.

| TIDE TO TOWN TRAIL SYSTEM GETS A $10 MILLION FROM CITY OF SAVANNAH
(SAVANNAH, GA) The City of Savannah has awarded $10 million to the Tide to Town urban trail network, drawing on the anticipated income generated by the increase in Savannah’s hotel/motel taxes. The ambitious trail project – which upon completion will link 75% of Savannah’s neighborhoods to safe walking and biking infrastructure – also will benefit from the $37 million allocated to restore the Historic Waterworks Building in west Savannah, since that project includes trails and sidewalks for the westside neighborhoods and links them into Tide to Town.

| HISTORIC SAVANNAH FOUNDATION SETS DATE FOR 2023 ANNUAL GALA
(SAVANNAH, GA) Historic Savannah Foundation is encouraging Savannahians to save the date of Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, for one of the most anticipated cultural events on Savannah’s calendar – the Historic Savannah Foundation Annual Gala. The Gala, the largest fundraising event for Savannah’s principal preservation organization, will be held at Kehoe Iron Works at Trustees Garden on the evening of Oct. 21. A reception will open the night’s festivities at 6:00 p.m., with dinner and dancing at 7 p.m. Music for the black-tie event will be provided by the Emerald Empire Band.

This person will help coordinate core programs: Looping Literacy Together, Mindfulness Zone, STEAM Dream, and 21st Century After School Program. (COASTAL PET RESCUE) Otto has permanent grumpy old man face! Don’t let that put you off; inside, he is the sweetest dog who enjoys affection – and he’s not old! Otto was part of a large group of dogs dumped in Midway and rescued by our volunteers. He is learning leash walking and to trust people, although he looks like he’s just tolerating all of the attention! We don’t know that he is housebroken, although he does use the doggy door to go outside. He tolerates other dogs well – we haven’t tested him with cats.
