GEORGIA EMPLOYMENT NEWS
(ATLANTA, GA) The Georgia Department of Labor reported Oct. 15 that Peach State jobs were up 20,200 in September to reach a total of 4,461,400. Among the job increase, the private sector saw a positive jump of 28,000 jobs, according to a report in the Atlanta Business Chronicle. There were nearly 175,000 jobs listed online at EmployGeorgia which, according to the Georgia Department of Labor, had more than doubled since the beginning of this pandemic from the April 2020 listing of just 73,000 jobs. https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2020/10/19/here-are-25-employers-in-georgia.html
THANKSGIVING MEAL VOLUNTEERS
(SAVANNAH, GA) In the spirit of the holidays, Union Mission will serve 300 free Thanksgiving dinners, provided by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation with the support of Sodexo, to local families and individuals in need. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help pass out to-go boxed meals or assist with the free donations through the clothing closet. GIVING TUESDAY
(SAVANNAH, GA) Each year, on the Tuesday immediately following Thanksgiving, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. This year, Union Mission is seeking donations to remodel the Grace House kitchen and cafeteria that provides over 88,000 meals to men, women and children who reside at Grace House, Beyond Grace and Magdalene House.
