(SAVANNAH, GA) Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) is calling for stories and tips from families with children with different abilities. LDSS hopes to collect 25 stories that will be published in a book to be sold online. The goal of this project is create a resource for parents and families to learn from each others’ experiences. There are no limitations set on the length of the stories submitted, but entries should include the writer’s full name, a photo to accompany the story, information on your child, and words of wisdom to other families that have a child with Down Syndrome. Stories ideas might include: the diagnosis of Down Syndrome in utero or at birth, what to expect and when, tips on traveling, enrolling in school, immersion, reading, motor skills, health tips, play time, and words of encouragement. All proceeds from ebook sales will benefit the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society. Share your story in hopes to help other families on their journey.
