Reception for Hospice Savannah Art Gallery Show, “Low Country Scenes: Coastal Images”

January 16 Reception for Hospice Savannah Art Gallery Show, “Low Country Scenes: Coastal Images by Bryan Stovall & Les Wilkes”

The Hospice Savannah Art Gallery displays “Low Country Scenes: Coastal Images by Bryan Stovall & Les Wilkes” from mid January through March 31, 2015. The public is invited to meet the artists – two of Savannah’s best known and beloved photographers – at their opening reception on Friday, January 16th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Gallery located at 1352 Eisenhower Drive.

Les Wilkes has been a well-respected orthopedic surgeon for over forty years. Now retired, he spends his time as a Hospice Savannah volunteer photographer capturing images of patients and their families, and of veteran patients being recognized and thanked for their service to our country. He says, “To me, any photograph, regardless of category, must elicit an emotional response.”

Bryan Stovall admits that while his early photographs weren’t all that inspiring, his passion and talent for photography grew with each passing year. At the age of nine he saved up enough money to buy his first camera from the Sear, Roebuck & Company catalog. His work captures divine moments, breath-taking landscapes and gorgeous scenery.

Together, Les and Bryan have teamed up to showcase some of their most captivating low country scenes shot in black and white, and many in infrared. As always, a portion of sales benefits Hospice Savannah’s Daily Impact Fund which provides unique services to patients, families and our community not otherwise covered by Medicare or other insurances.
