(SAVANNAH, GA) January 22, 2010 – Savannah auto salvage yard owner Kenny Grainger is raising money for the American Red Cross’s Haiti relief effort. From today through Jan. 31 all proceeds from customers $1 yard entrance fee will be donated to the charity.

Local Auto Salvage Yard Raises Money for Red Cross’s Haiti Relief
(SAVANNAH, GA) Savannah auto salvage yard owner Kenny Grainger is giving Savannah-area residents an easy way to help people suffering from the effects of the Jan. 12 earthquake and resulting humanitarian crisis in Haiti. From now through January 31st, Grainger is donating all of the $1 door fees customers pay to enter the Cash & Carry Auto Salvage Yard on Staley Avenue to the American Red Cross’s Haiti relief effort.
"My family and I are deeply moved by the images of suffering and hardship we have seen coming from Haiti," Grainger said. "The estimated 200,000 people killed equals roughly three-fourths of the population of Chatham County. Our donation is a small thing for us, but could make a world of difference in a place where 80 percent of people live on less than $2 a day."
In addition to the collected admission fees, Grainger has also placed donation buckets in the customer service area near the cash registers, so customers may make additional donations if they choose. The public is welcome to donate even if they are not shopping for car parts. The goal is to raise at least $5,000 by the end of the month.

Cash-n-Carry is a self-service salvage yard that has been serving Savannah and the Low Country since 1985. The family-owned business sells premium auto parts at low prices.
